We grind our own corn, pour every tequila neat, and serve it all with a smile on Southeast Powell. Come hungry, stay a while.
Azul started with a simple conviction: if you're going to serve tacos, the tortilla should be the star. So every morning, before the doors open, we stone-grind our nixtamal and press each tortilla by hand.
We're not a franchise. We're not a chain. We're a small kitchen on SE Powell that takes pride in sourcing local produce, pouring only 100% agave tequilas, and remembering your name when you walk in.
We don't serve mixto — anything less would be an insult to the agave. Our rotating selection highlights small distilleries and family-run palenques, from coastal Jalisco to the highlands.
Whether you're sipping a reposado neat or ordering a margarita, you can trust every pour. Our bartender will happily walk you through the selection and match you with something that fits your taste.
The tortillas alone are worth the trip. You can actually taste the difference when something is made by hand — and these are the best I've had in Portland.
Finally — a place in Southeast that takes tequila seriously. No mixto, no excuses. And the margarita with their fresh tortilla chips is my Friday night ritual.
Cozy spot, great vibes, and the staff actually seems to enjoy what they do. That's rare. The roasted cauliflower tacos converted me — I'm a regular now.
